Can I bring my pit bull on the train?
Pit bull-type dogs face size limits like any medium dog, plus one outright ban: VIA Rail in Canada doesn't accept them. Here's the full picture.
Checked against each railroad's own rules on .
The short answer
On Amtrak it depends on size. American Pit Bull Terrier (30 to 60 lb): no; American Staffordshire Terrier (40 to 70 lb): no. Smaller pit bulls can ride most transit in a carrier, and bigger ones need a leash-friendly train like Metro-North.

A page from Rally's ride
Rally's book starts with a suitcase and a corgi who refuses to be left behind. Whatever train your pit bull can ride, packing its own small bag (water, a towel for the floor, a chew) makes the trip feel like Rally's. His packing page is in our free coloring and activity pack.
