Tips for riding Pacific Surfliner with kids and a dog
- Two people on one reservation can bring two small pets, one each.
- The Surfliner is unreserved, so pets can't be grouped in one car. If someone near you has allergies, the Business Class car and Cafe Car stay pet free.
- Most Surfliner hops are short. Walk your dog right before boarding, because there are no pet relief stops on board.
- The ocean stretch between San Clemente and Oceanside is worth a window seat on the west side of the train.
A page from Rally's ride
Rally spends most of his ride with his nose to the glass, saying hello to a seagull. Whatever your dog's spot on Pacific Surfliner turns out to be, a few minutes at the window before the trip, looking at the pictures together, helps kids know what's coming. Our free coloring and activity pack starts with that window page.
