Naples Regional Library on Central Avenue offers Holiday Family Storytime on two Thursday mornings in December. The library invites parents and their littlest readers for a half hour of holiday-themed books and rhymes, music and movement, plus crafts and activities.

The program is tagged for children 0 to 5 and is a good low-key outing for toddlers and preschoolers. No registration is listed on the event page. The branch is close to downtown Naples and Fifth Avenue South, which makes it easy to combine with other holiday sights in town. Because it repeats a week later, families who miss the first session can catch the second one. Each session includes a craft, so expect little ones to bring something home.

Parent tip: It runs only 30 minutes, so arrive a few minutes early to settle in.

The Golden Gate Branch of Collier County Public Library has a full holiday afternoon planned. It opens with a holiday magic show from Showtime for Kids, a children's entertainment group. After the show, kids can make a craft and enjoy a holiday treat.

The afternoon ends with a chance to take a picture with Santa. The library tags the program for all ages and lists no registration. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The branch is on Lucerne Road in Golden Gate, east of downtown Naples. The two-hour program is a full afternoon outing in one stop, and the mix of a show, a craft, a treat and a Santa photo works well for a wide range of ages.

Parent tip: Arrive at the start so kids catch the magic show before the craft and Santa portion.

Each evening closes with a holiday movie on a giant inflatable screen. On Saturday night the city adds a drone show over City Hall as the grand finale. The Holiday Boat-a-Long brings Santa Claus and his elves to the Bimini Basin at Four Freedoms Park. The city describes it as a free, family-friendly evening with stage entertainment, local food trucks, crafts for kids and a visit from Santa, followed by a parade of decorated boats on the water.

After the boat parade, the city shows The Santa Clause 2 on a giant inflatable screen. Plan for an outdoor evening along the water, with food available from the trucks on site. Boaters who want to join the parade register through Sea Tow by phone, as listed on the city page. The festivities start in the late afternoon, so younger kids can enjoy the crafts, the stage and Santa before the boats come through after dark.

Coconut Point in Estero hosts its fourth Tropical Holiday Celebration as an all-day event. The day starts with a car and truck show and a vendor show, followed by entertainment for all ages.

The highlight for kids comes later in the day, when Santa arrives during the Tropical Holiday Parade and the center holds its annual tree lighting. The listing runs from 10 am to 8 pm, so families with young children may want to plan around the evening parade and tree lighting rather than spend the whole day. Coconut Point is on Fashion Drive in Estero. Santa's arrival in the parade and the tree lighting are the parts most families with young children come for, and the earlier car show and vendor show add something for older kids and grown-ups.
