Downtown Orlando brings snow to Florida on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from December 5 through December 20. Snow falls on Washington Street by the Lake Eola House, near the intersection of East Washington Street and North Eola Drive.
Each snowfall lasts 15 minutes and begins on the half hour at 6, 6:30, 7, 7:30, 8, 8:30 and 9 pm, so families have several chances in one evening. The experience is free. It sits right beside Santa at the Eola House and the Grinch's Lair on the same nights, and the Eola Wonderland Christmas Tree light show is a short walk away, which makes an easy evening of free downtown holiday fun. It is an outdoor experience, so bring layers for the evening breeze off the lake.
Parent tip: Snow starts on the hour and half hour; an early 6 pm snowfall works best for little ones.

The Alafaya Branch in east Orlando invites families to craft together on Saturday, December 12, from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Everyone makes snowman ornaments to take home, a simple keepsake for the tree or a gift for a grandparent.
The program is recommended for families, and registration is required for each family member who plans to take part, so sign up everyone in your group. Because it is a Saturday morning program, it works well for working parents and school age children. The Alafaya Branch is on East Colonial Drive near the University of Central Florida area. Spots are limited by registration, so it is best to sign up early in the season. No fee is listed.
Parent tip: Register every family member who will craft, not just the children.

A story for the drive home
A morning with Santa or an evening of holiday stories tends to end the same way: tired kids, a long drive and one more book before bed. Our picture book follows Rally the corgi on his first train ride to see his grand-paw-rents, and every page is painted by hand. If your family is spending December missing someone, it was written for that too. For the car, print our free corgi and train coloring pages.

How much is Movie and a Craft in Windermere?
Free, registration required. Movie and a Craft is on Wednesday, December 23, 2026, 2 to 3:30 pm at Windermere Branch Library. Confirm on the host’s page before you go.
Are there Christmas train rides for kids in Orlando?
Yes, but they have their own guide. Santa trains and holiday train rides are listed in our Orlando Christmas train rides guide, so this page sticks to story times, Santa visits and other events off the rails.
How do you confirm these events?
We list an event only after we find this season’s date on the host’s own website or an official city or tourism calendar. We last checked every listing on November 2, 2026. Hosts change details, so always confirm on the host’s page before you go.
Event names belong to their hosts. Rally Takes the Train is a family picture book and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any host listed here. Confirm dates, times and prices on each host’s own site before you go.
