Downtown Orlando brings snow to Florida on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from December 5 through December 20. Snow falls on Washington Street by the Lake Eola House, near the intersection of East Washington Street and North Eola Drive.
Each snowfall lasts 15 minutes and begins on the half hour at 6, 6:30, 7, 7:30, 8, 8:30 and 9 pm, so families have several chances in one evening. The experience is free. It sits right beside Santa at the Eola House and the Grinch's Lair on the same nights, and the Eola Wonderland Christmas Tree light show is a short walk away, which makes an easy evening of free downtown holiday fun. It is an outdoor experience, so bring layers for the evening breeze off the lake.
Parent tip: Snow starts on the hour and half hour; an early 6 pm snowfall works best for little ones.

The city invites children of all ages to come with their parents and calls it fun for the whole family. The event page does not list a start time, a street address, a price or parking details, so check the city's page or call the city before heading out. The Bay Harbor Islands Branch Library is welcoming Mrs. Claus for a one hour holiday story program on a Wednesday afternoon in December. The library promises stories, magic and holiday fun, and the event is open to all ages.
This is a small neighborhood branch, so expect an intimate setting where young children can sit close and enjoy the stories. The event is free and the listing does not mention registration. It is a nice option for families on the barrier islands and in the North Miami Beach area who want a short, gentle holiday outing without crowds or tickets. The branch also lists a contact person and phone number on the event page for questions. Other Miami-Dade library branches host holiday stories, crafts and shows throughout the month if you want to plan a second outing.
Parent tip: Free with no registration listed; arrive a few minutes early for a good spot.

West Kendall Regional Library is holding its second annual Winter Wonderland, a three hour afternoon of holiday arts and crafts with a special storytime presentation. Kids can pose in front of a holiday themed backdrop and then frame the picture in a frame they make themselves.
There is also an ugly sweater station: bring a plain sweater and the library provides the decorating supplies, while supplies last. The event is free, open to all ages, and no registration is listed. It is a good choice for families in West Kendall and the Hammocks who want a mix of reading, crafting and photo fun in one stop. Since the event runs for three hours, families can come and go as their schedule allows. Questions can go to the branch by phone or email, both listed on the event page.
Parent tip: Bring a plain sweater if your child wants to decorate one; supplies are limited.

The show runs about an hour on a Saturday morning, a manageable length for younger kids, and it is listed for all ages. Admission is free and no registration is mentioned. Westchester Regional is one of the larger branches in the system, and it is also running a Letters to Santa mailbox through December, so kids can write a note to the North Pole while they are there. Questions can go to the branch by phone or email.

All season long, Glazer Children's Museum is turning part of its space into a gingerbread-inspired winter wonderland. Instead of decorating cookies, families design and build their own creations from recycled materials, then add them to a village that keeps growing as more visitors contribute.
The Gingerbread Village runs from November 1 through December 31 and is included with regular museum admission, so there is no separate ticket or set time. It is an easy add-on to any museum visit this season, including the Santa meet and greets, the Nutcracker performance on November 21 and the Felt Ornament Workshop. Since the materials are recycled rather than edible, it also works for kids with food allergies.
Parent tip: No set time; build a piece whenever you visit during museum hours.

Glazer Children's Museum is hosting a hands-on holiday craft session where participants make a custom ornament from felt and thread. Yes, but they have their own guide. Santa trains and holiday train rides are listed in our Florida Christmas train rides guide, so this page sticks to story times, Santa visits and other events off the rails.
How do you confirm these events?
We list an event only after we find this season’s date on the host’s own website or an official city or tourism calendar. We last checked every listing on November 2, 2026. Hosts change details, so always confirm on the host’s page before you go.
Event names belong to their hosts. Rally Takes the Train is a family picture book and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any host listed here. Confirm dates, times and prices on each host’s own site before you go.
