All season long, Glazer Children's Museum is turning part of its space into a gingerbread-inspired winter wonderland. Instead of decorating cookies, families design and build their own creations from recycled materials, then add them to a village that keeps growing as more visitors contribute.
The Gingerbread Village runs from November 1 through December 31 and is included with regular museum admission, so there is no separate ticket or set time. It is an easy add-on to any museum visit this season, including the Santa meet and greets, the Nutcracker performance on November 21 and the Felt Ornament Workshop. Since the materials are recycled rather than edible, it also works for kids with food allergies.
Parent tip: No set time; build a piece whenever you visit during museum hours.

Christmas Town transforms Busch Gardens Tampa Bay on select dates from November 13 through January 4. The park promises nearly 70 miles of lights, classic traditions like Santa's Workshop with photo opportunities with Santa, and Rudolph's Winter Wonderland, where kids can walk through life-size storybook scenes and meet Rudolph and friends. Holiday shows include Lights of Wonder and A Very Merry Cirque.
The season opens with a Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 13, from 5 to 7 pm, with the tree lit at 7 pm. Later celebrations include Hanukkah (Dec 4 to 12), Three Kings (Dec 21 to Jan 4) and New Year's Eve. Christmas Town is included with park admission, and hours run from park open to park close.
Parent tip: Check the park schedule for which dates Christmas Town is running; priority access for Rudolph's Winter Wonderland is sold separately.

Hyde Park Village in South Tampa is hosting its Holiday Happening on Thursday evening, November 19, from 5:30 to 8 pm. The evening includes live music, a Nutcracker-inspired performance by The Tampa City Ballet, and a festive visit from Santa, with Janelle Martinez of Great Day Live as host.
The tree lighting is set for 7:45 pm, near the end of the evening, so families with young children may want to arrive in time to see Santa and the ballet and then stay for the lights. Proceeds benefit The Children's Dream Fund. The village notes that more details are still to come, so check the event page closer to the date for any updates on activities or pricing.
Parent tip: The tree lighting is at 7:45 pm; check the page closer to the date since more details are still to come.

Glazer Children's Museum is hosting a hands-on holiday craft session where participants make a custom ornament from felt and thread. Museum staff guide everyone step by step through the tools, techniques and basic stitches needed to finish the piece, and the workshop is described as beginner-friendly, so no sewing experience is needed.
The workshop runs Saturday, November 21, from 10:30 am to 1 pm. Tickets are sold through the museum's online ticketing site, and the event page does not list a price or an age range. Because it involves needles and stitching, it likely suits older kids best or younger ones working alongside a grown-up. The Nutcracker performance with Tampa City Ballet follows at 1 pm the same day.
Parent tip: Buy tickets through the event page; stay for the 1 pm Nutcracker performance the same day.

Glazer Children's Museum is welcoming dancers from Tampa City Ballet for a short holiday performance. The company will present about 20 minutes of selected scenes from The Nutcracker, a nice length for young children who might not sit through a full ballet. After the performance, kids can stay and meet the dancers.
The program runs Saturday, November 21, in the 1 to 2 pm slot. The event page does not list a separate fee, so plan on regular museum admission. Families can combine the performance with the museum's Gingerbread Village, which runs all season, or the Felt Ornament Workshop held earlier the same day. The museum is at 110 W Gasparilla Plaza in downtown Tampa.
Parent tip: The performance is short, so arrive near 1 pm; pair it with the Gingerbread Village or the morning ornament workshop the same day.

Christmas in the Wild returns to ZooTampa on select nights from Friday, November 27 through Wednesday, December 30. The zoo describes one of Tampa Bay's largest light displays, along with immersive realms of twinkling lights and cheerful music, a chance to get a picture with Santa, interactive family shows, festive entertainment around the zoo, and holiday treats and drinks. Winter-themed wildlife talks and bookable animal encounters, such as holiday enrichment with African penguins, add an animal angle.
Admission after 4 pm is $34.95, and the event is included with a ZooTampa membership or a Zoo Fun ticket, with no reservations needed. The first night, November 27, is a members-only preview. Check the event calendar on the zoo's page for the exact nights it runs.

Glazer Children's Museum is offering a Santa visit designed for children who do better with less noise and stimulation. The meet and greet takes place during Sunshine Sunday, the museum's monthly sensory-friendly morning, when lights and sounds are lowered and extra supports are available.
Kids can meet Santa and even play with him a bit during the quiet morning hours, from 8 to 11 am on Sunday, November 29. It is a good option for families with children on the autism spectrum, kids with sensory sensitivities, or little ones who find a busy mall Santa line overwhelming. Admission is through the museum's regular ticketing; the event page does not list a separate price.
Parent tip: Arrive early in the 8 to 11 am window for the quietest experience; check the museum's ticket page for admission.

Santa visits the Glazer Children's Museum in downtown Tampa, and kids get a chance to meet him and even play a bit together while he is there. The event page says Santa joins the group for storytime, followed by a craft, so it works well for young children who like a story with their Santa visit.
The museum's calendar also shows other Santa visits this season: Sat, Nov 28 and Sat, Dec 19, both 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, plus a Sensory-Friendly Santa Meet & Greet on Sun, Nov 29, 8 to 11 am, with lights and sounds lowered. The event page does not list a price or registration, so plan on museum admission and check the museum's ticket page. The museum's Gingerbread Village, where families build with recycled materials, runs through December 31.
Parent tip: Admission prices are on the museum's ticket page, not the event page. Families who need a quieter visit can choose the Sensory-Friendly Santa Meet & Greet on Nov 29.

A morning with Santa or an evening of holiday stories tends to end the same way: tired kids, a long drive and one more book before bed. Our picture book follows Rally the corgi on his first train ride to see his grand-paw-rents, and every page is painted by hand. If your family is spending December missing someone, it was written for that too. For the car, print our free corgi and train coloring pages.
