Metropolitan Ballet presents its annual production of The Nutcracker at Century II Concert Hall over Thanksgiving weekend, with performances on Saturday, November 28, at 7 pm and Sunday, November 29, at 2 pm. Musicians from the Salt City Orchestra play the score live.
The company's version follows Clara as she helps the Nutcracker defeat King Rat, then travels through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets, led by her enchanting Unicorn. There, the Sugar Plum Fairy crowns Clara, and the Nutcracker is revealed to be a real prince. The ballet says all ages delight in the story, and the Sunday matinee is a good fit for younger children. Check the company's site for ticket details.
