Christmas Train Rides in West Virginia (2026)

West Virginia’s two Christmas trains run on opposite sides of the mountains. In the eastern panhandle, the Potomac Eagle’s North Pole Express leaves Romney almost every December day, with Mrs. Claus’ cookies on board and a barn full of crafts and s’mores at the station. In the Allegheny Highlands, the Cass Scenic Railroad runs a steam train along the Greenbrier River on three December weekends while the little company town lights up. There is no licensed Polar Express in the state in 2026; see our Polar Express and Christmas train guide for the nearest.
