Hamilton Library starts the winter season with a Lego building session that is part of the Chandler for the Holidays series. Kids ages 6 to 12 use their creativity and engineering skills to build winter themed creations, and all supplies are provided, so children only need to bring their imagination.

The program runs from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, in the Program Room, which makes it an easy fit right after school. It is supported by the Friends of Chandler Public Library and is free to attend. The format is relaxed and hands-on, so kids can work at their own pace and talk with other builders. It is a good pick for children who prefer building to listening, and a low-key way to enjoy the holiday season without a big crowd.

Parent tip: Supplies are provided. Aim for the 6 to 12 age range.

Hamilton Library is hosting a festive workshop where teens help younger kids create special holiday crafts. It runs for an hour and a half on a Saturday afternoon, which gives children time to finish their projects and take them home, whether as decorations or homemade gifts.

The library says the workshop is best for ages 6 to 12. Registration is required and spots are limited, and each child needs their own registration so there are enough supplies for everyone. The program is supported by the Friends of Chandler Public Library. If you have more than one child in the age range, sign each one up separately when you register. The workshop takes place at Hamilton Library on South Arizona Avenue in Chandler.

Parent tip: Register each child separately; spots are limited.

Santa Cares is a sensory-friendly Santa session at Chandler Fashion Center on Sunday, December 6, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The Visit Chandler holiday page describes it as a chance to visit Santa in a calm environment for all ages and abilities.

The session is meant for families who find the regular Santa line too loud, crowded or overwhelming, including children with sensory sensitivities or other needs. As with the center's regular Santa visits, seeing Santa is free and photo packages are available for purchase, and reserving a time online is recommended. The early Sunday timing means the mall is quieter than usual. If your child needs more time to warm up to Santa, this is the session designed for that, and you can plan the visit at your own pace.

Parent tip: Book a slot ahead of time. Contact the center if you need specific accommodations.

Mrs. Claus will share stories and festive cheer, and families can enjoy cookies and make holiday crafts during the hour. It is part of the city's Chandler for the Holidays lineup and is supported by the Friends of Chandler Public Library.

The library lists the program for young children, school age kids and families. No registration is required, but the library notes that space is limited, so arriving a little early is a good idea. Because it is a weekday morning program, it works especially well for preschoolers and younger siblings, along with homeschool families and anyone already out of school for the week. The program runs for one hour.

Parent tip: No registration, but space is limited, so arrive early.

The Christian Dance Company presents the 39th annual Spirit of Christmas on the Steena Murray Mainstage at Chandler Center for the Arts. The show is an energetic variety production with a cast of more than 100 dancers and singers, special guest performers, a champion hoop dancer and even a horse and carriage.

Six performances are scheduled over two weekends in December, with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. alongside Saturday evening shows at 7 p.m. Tickets are $46 each, with a youth price of $39 that is available only through the box office. The variety format, with short numbers and plenty of spectacle, tends to hold the attention of school-age children. It is a longstanding holiday tradition for many local families and is listed in the center's Kids and Family category.

Parent tip: Youth tickets can only be bought through the box office. Matinees are best for younger children.

Hamilton Library runs an all-day Christmas scavenger hunt on Wednesday, December 16. Families stop by the library, pick up a checklist and look for all of the Christmas-themed items hidden around the building, checking them off as they go. Anyone who completes the card earns a prize.

Because the activity is available from morning through early evening, it works for almost any schedule, including preschoolers who do best earlier in the day and school-age kids who arrive after class. There is no set start time and no registration listed, so you can come in whenever it suits you. The hunt is a simple way to turn a library visit into a holiday outing, and it pairs well with picking out books for winter break from the children's section.

Parent tip: Drop in at any time during library hours. Ask at the desk for the checklist.

The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, and there is no admission cost. The city page does not list a detailed activity schedule, so families should expect a relaxed, drop-in atmosphere rather than a single show. The Community Center is close to Downtown Chandler, where the Tumbleweed Tree and other holiday decorations are on display through the season, so it is simple to add a walk downtown before or after. Call the community center at 480-782-2727 for questions about the evening.

With kids home on winter break, Basha Library is offering a family bucket drumming session built around the holidays. Children, parents and grandparents explore rhythm together with hands-on activities, drum along to familiar holiday songs, learn simple patterns and play interactive musical games.

The library says all ages and skill levels are welcome and that no experience is needed. No registration is required. Buckets and drumsticks are provided during the session while supplies last, so arriving on time helps make sure everyone in your group gets a set. It is a lively, noisy hour, which makes it a good fit for kids who like to move and make music rather than sit still for a story. The session runs from 10 to 11 am on a Monday.

Parent tip: Buckets and drumsticks are provided while supplies last, so arrive on time.

Are there Christmas train rides for kids in Chandler?

Yes, but they have their own guide. Santa trains and holiday train rides are listed in our Chandler Christmas train rides guide, so this page sticks to story times, Santa visits and other events off the rails.

How do you confirm these events?

We list an event only after we find this season’s date on the host’s own website or an official city or tourism calendar. We last checked every listing on November 2, 2026. Hosts change details, so always confirm on the host’s page before you go.

Event names belong to their hosts. Rally Takes the Train is a family picture book and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any host listed here. Confirm dates, times and prices on each host’s own site before you go.
