Questions about Christmas Eve services in San Francisco
What time are Christmas Eve services in San Francisco?
No San Francisco church on this page has posted 2026 times yet. Christmas Eve is Thursday, December 24, 2026. In past years these churches held services from late morning through a late night service, and this page adds each 2026 time once the church posts it.
Are there Christmas Eve services for kids in San Francisco?
Yes, several churches have held them. Grace Cathedral held a Cathedral Christmas Pageant and St. Mark's Lutheran Church held a Family Christmas Pageant in 2025. Calvary Presbyterian and St. Francis' Episcopal have also held family or children's services. Their 2026 times are not posted yet.
Is there a Midnight Mass in San Francisco?
Grace Cathedral held a service it calls "Midnight Mass" in 2025, starting late on Christmas Eve, and St. Brendan Catholic Church also listed a late Mass. Neither has posted 2026 times yet, so check their schedule pages, linked on this page, in December.
Are there Spanish-language Christmas Eve services in San Francisco?
None of the churches listed here so far has posted a 2026 Spanish-language Christmas Eve service. This page adds a Misa de Nochebuena once a San Francisco parish posts its 2026 time on its own site or on the Archdiocese of San Francisco's official pages.
Do I need tickets or reservations?
None of the churches listed here has posted a ticket or reservation requirement for 2026. Most Christmas Eve services are free and open to all. If a church asks for reservations when it posts its schedule, this page will note it next to that service.
Can I watch a Christmas Eve service online?
Several churches here livestreamed in 2025. Grace Cathedral streamed its pageant, Lessons and Carols and late service, St. Mark's Lutheran streamed its choral service on YouTube, and the First Unitarian Universalist Society streamed its candlelit service. Check each church's page for 2026 plans.
How early should we arrive?
Christmas Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year at many churches, so arriving 20 to 30 minutes early is a common plan, and earlier for family services and large downtown churches. Check the church's own page for any arrival advice it posts for 2026.
How long is a family Christmas Eve service?
Lengths vary by church. Grace Cathedral's 2025 Cathedral Christmas Pageant was listed at about 75 minutes, and its Lessons and Carols at about one hour. Each church's own page is the best source for 2026 lengths once schedules are posted.
When do churches in San Francisco post their Christmas Eve times?
Most San Francisco churches post Christmas Eve times between late November and mid December, and Catholic parishes often post in their December bulletins. This page was checked November 7, 2026, and is rechecked weekly from November 20 so new times appear as churches publish them.
Is there parking or childcare?
No church on this page has posted 2026 parking or childcare details yet. Street parking near downtown and Nob Hill churches can be limited on Christmas Eve, so transit or early arrival helps. This page adds parking or childcare notes when a church posts them.
