Halloween Train Rides in Oklahoma (2026)
Every rider on the Oklahoma Railway Museum's Halloween Train gets a candy gift bag, and the ride runs on Oct 30 and 31, so Oklahoma City kids can ride a real train on Halloween itself. That is one of three Halloween trains still running in Oklahoma on or after October 14: two gentle family rides (the OKC train and a zoo train in Tulsa) and one haunted night train in the southeast corner of the state. Our full list of Halloween train rides by state covers the rest of the country.
The three could hardly be more different. The OKC ride leaves Oakwood Station on Halloween weekend, with adult tickets at $15 and kids 3 to 12 at $8. Tulsa's zoo runs its little train as the BNSF Railway Haunted Train during HallowZOOeen, billed as spooky but not too scary. Down in Beavers Bend State Park near Broken Bow, the Nighttime Halloween Train of Terror runs through the pine forest after dark and is billed exactly the way it sounds.
The short version
- Pumpkin and costume rides: The Oklahoma Railway Museum Halloween Train is about 15 minutes from downtown Oklahoma City and about 1 hour 40 minutes from Tulsa. It runs only Oct 30 and 31, with six Saturday departures from 11:45 AM to 6:00 PM and a candy gift bag for every rider.
- Tulsa families have a closer option at the Tulsa Zoo's HallowZOOeen, where the zoo train becomes the BNSF Railway Haunted Train for a $5 add-on. It runs Oct 24, 25, 29, 30 and 31, with afternoon sessions on Oct 25 and 31 for younger kids.
- Haunted rides: The Train of Terror at Beavers Bend runs this Friday and Saturday, Oct 16 and 17, plus Saturday, Oct 24, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. It is about 3 hours from Tulsa, 3 hours 15 minutes from Dallas and 3 hours 30 minutes from Oklahoma City, so it works best as part of a weekend in the area.
If you want a ride this weekend, Beavers Bend is the only Oklahoma option; the OKC Halloween Train waits until Halloween weekend.

A dark tunnel, a brave corgi. Bring Rally along.
In Rally Takes the Train, a corgi rides into a dark tunnel, gets a little scared, and comes out to a big bright light and happy cheers. It takes about five minutes to read, a good fit for the drive to an Oklahoma pumpkin train.

Oklahoma City: Halloween Train at the Oklahoma Railway Museum
The Oklahoma Railway Museum saves its Halloween Train for the last two days of October, so this is the ride for families who want a train in the Halloween plan itself. Every rider gets a candy gift bag, and the museum will swap in an allergy-friendly bag if you ask. Friday's trains leave Oakwood Station at 4:45 and 6:00 PM, and Saturday has six departures from 11:45 AM to 6:00 PM.
Adults pay $15, children 3 to 12 pay $8, and kids under 3 ride free on a lap. The museum says to arrive 20 minutes early and notes the vintage cars are heated but the heat can be temperamental, so bring a jacket. Ride length and stroller rules are not posted, so check the operator site.

Broken Bow: Nighttime Halloween Train of Terror at Beavers Bend Train Depot
This haunted train runs after dark through the pine forest of Beavers Bend State Park, near Hochatown, and the operator calls it the Train of Terror. It runs from 6:00 to 10:00 PM on three nights: Oct 16, 17 and 24.
Details are thin. Tickets were about $10 per person in past years, but the 2026 price is not posted in our research, and neither are ride length, age guidance or sell-out status. The depot has a Facebook page and is listed on the Beavers Bend events page, so check both before planning a long drive around it.

Tulsa: BNSF Railway Haunted Train at Tulsa Zoo's HallowZOOeen
This one is a zoo train, not a full-size railroad: during HallowZOOeen, the Tulsa Zoo's own train becomes the BNSF Railway Haunted Train and loops around the zoo grounds. The zoo bills the whole event as spooky but not too scary, and says the night sessions are a bit spookier, so preschoolers may do better at the Sunday or Halloween afternoon sessions.
The train is a separate $5 ticket for riders 3 and up, bought on top of HallowZOOeen admission ($19.99, or $14.99 for zoo members). Admission also covers Goblin Stops for treats, carnival games and themed areas. Reservations are required online, costumes are encouraged as long as they are family friendly, and ride length is not posted.

- The Tulsa Zoo asks for family-friendly costumes with no realistic-looking weapons, so leave the toy sword at home.
- The Beavers Bend Train of Terror was about $10 a person in past years, but the 2026 price is not posted, so check the depot's page before you drive. It is 3 hours or more from OKC, Tulsa and Dallas.

Oklahoma in Late October: Wind After Sundown
Late October evenings in Oklahoma usually drop into the 40s and 50s, and the wind can make them feel colder. The OKC Halloween Train runs rain or shine, and the museum warns that the heat in its vintage cars can be temperamental, so dress kids for a cool evening even if the afternoon felt mild, and plan a costume that fits over a jacket.
Beavers Bend sits in the forested Kiamichi country of southeast Oklahoma, where nights are damp as well as cool. For a 6:00 to 10:00 PM ride there, bring hats, a warm layer and shoes that can handle wet ground.
If Your Kindergartner Wants the Train of Terror but You Are Not Sure
For little kids, the Oklahoma Railway Museum's Halloween Train is the easy choice. It is billed as a family Halloween ride, it ends with a candy bag in every rider's hands, and on Halloween Saturday the first train leaves at 11:45 AM, in full daylight. In Tulsa, the zoo's Haunted Train is billed as spooky but not too scary; pick the 2:00 to 5:00 PM sessions on Oct 25 or 31 if your preschooler is unsure, since the zoo says nights are a bit spookier.
The Beavers Bend Train of Terror is a different thing. The operator names it for terror, it runs in the dark woods from 6:00 PM, and no age guidance is posted. A brave six-year-old who loves spooky stories may be thrilled; a nervous four-year-old probably will not be. If you go, tell them up front that everything spooky on the train is pretend, and agree on a signal for "I want to hold your hand now."

In our book, the train goes into a dark tunnel and Rally cannot see anything. He is scared, until he hears happy cheers with his big ears and sees a bright light, and then the train rolls out beside cliffs and the sea. A night ride through the Beavers Bend pines is its own long tunnel, so remind your child it ends, and you are right there. Try our Rally tunnel coloring page and friends the night before.
Rally began as my mom's story, and how the book came together is really about her.
More Halloween Trains Just South and East of Oklahoma
Oklahoma City families are about 3 hours from the Dallas Fort Worth area, where Grapevine Vintage Railroad runs its Trick 'R Treat Trains, a pumpkin and costume ride, on Oct 24 and 25. Grapevine also has a haunted Witches' Brew Train on Halloween weekend. Both are on our Texas Halloween train guide.
We did not find an Arkansas Halloween train this year, but Texarkana families are only about 1 hour 30 minutes from Beavers Bend, which makes the haunted Train of Terror their closest ride. Little Rock is about 3 hours 15 minutes away. Our Arkansas Halloween train page has more for Arkansas families.

It is a haunted night ride through the pine forest from 6:00 to 10:00 PM on Oct 16, 17 and 24. Tickets were about $10 per person in past years. It is billed as a Train of Terror, so it suits older kids who like scares.
What Halloween events are there for kids in Tulsa, Oklahoma this October?
One family Halloween event in Tulsa is HallowZOOeen at the Tulsa Zoo, where the zoo train runs as the BNSF Railway Haunted Train on Oct 24, 25, 29, 30 and 31. The zoo calls it spooky but not too scary. The train is $5 per rider 3 and up, on top of admission ($19.99, or $14.99 for members). Afternoon sessions on Oct 25 and 31 run 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
Is the Tulsa Zoo HallowZOOeen Haunted Train too spooky for a preschooler?
For most preschoolers, no, especially in daylight. The Tulsa Zoo bills HallowZOOeen as spooky but not too scary, and it says the 6:00 to 9:00 PM night sessions are a bit spookier. The 2:00 to 5:00 PM sessions on Sun Oct 25 and Sat Oct 31 are the gentle choice. Kids 3 and up need the $5 train ticket, and it is a small zoo train, not a big railroad.
Is there a Halloween train in southeast Oklahoma that Dallas families can reach?
Yes. The Nighttime Halloween Train of Terror at Beavers Bend State Park near Broken Bow is about 3 hours 15 minutes from Dallas. It is a haunted night ride from 6:00 to 10:00 PM on Oct 16, 17 and 24, billed as a Train of Terror. For a gentler ride, Dallas families have closer options on the Texas side, such as Grapevine's Trick 'R Treat Trains.
Is there a train ride on Halloween night near Oklahoma City?
Yes. The Oklahoma Railway Museum's Halloween Train runs on Saturday, Oct 31, as well as Friday, Oct 30, from Oakwood Station, about 15 minutes from downtown Oklahoma City. The last Halloween train leaves at 6:00 PM, with earlier trains from 11:45 AM. Every rider gets a candy gift bag. It is billed as a family Halloween train, not a scary one.
Can kids wear costumes on the Oklahoma Railway Museum Halloween Train?
The Oklahoma Railway Museum has not posted costume rules for its Halloween Train, so check the operator site before you plan around one. Since the ride runs on Halloween weekend, many kids will want to wear theirs. The museum says the train runs rain or shine and its vintage heating can be temperamental, so choose a costume that fits over a warm layer.
Is the Beavers Bend Train of Terror too scary for a toddler?
Probably, yes. The Beavers Bend Train Depot bills this ride as a Train of Terror, and it runs after dark through the state park's pine forest from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. No age guidance is posted. For a toddler, the Oklahoma Railway Museum's family Halloween Train on Oct 30 and 31, or an afternoon session of the Tulsa Zoo's not-too-scary Haunted Train, is the gentler pick.
Are there Oklahoma Halloween train tickets for this weekend?
As of October 14, the only Oklahoma Halloween train running this weekend is the Beavers Bend Train of Terror, listed for Friday, Oct 16 and Saturday, Oct 17 from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. Its sell-out status is not posted, so check the depot's page before you drive. The Tulsa Zoo's Haunted Train starts Oct 24, and the OKC Halloween Train waits until Oct 30 and 31.
Do kids get candy on the OKC Halloween train at the Oklahoma Railway Museum?
Yes. The Oklahoma Railway Museum gives every rider on its Halloween Train a candy gift bag, and allergy-friendly treat bags are available on request, so mention it when you arrive or ask ahead. The train runs Oct 30 and 31 from Oakwood Station on NE Grand Boulevard, with Friday departures at 4:45 and 6:00 PM and Saturday trains from 11:45 AM.
How much is the Oklahoma Railway Museum Halloween Train?
Adult tickets (13 and up) for the Oklahoma Railway Museum Halloween Train are $15, children 3 to 12 are $8, and kids under 3 ride free on a lap. Every rider gets a candy gift bag. The train runs Oct 30 and 31 from Oakwood Station in Oklahoma City, and the museum recommends buying ahead and arriving 20 minutes early.
How much does the Train of Terror at Beavers Bend cost?
In past years, the Nighttime Halloween Train of Terror at Beavers Bend cost about $10 per person. The 2026 price was not posted in our research, so check the depot's events page or Facebook page before you go. The ride runs from 6:00 to 10:00 PM on Oct 16, 17 and 24 in Beavers Bend State Park near Broken Bow.
What should kids wear to an Oklahoma Halloween train at night?
Dress them warmer than the afternoon suggests. Oklahoma evenings in late October usually fall into the 40s and 50s and can be windy. Around Beavers Bend in the southeast, the forest is also damp at night, so add hats and sturdy shoes. For the OKC Halloween Train, a costume that fits over a jacket keeps the costume and the kid happy.
