The Défilé du père Noël is one of the city's longest running family traditions, now in its 74th edition. Expect around ten floats, marching bands and more than 1,000 artists and volunteers, with Santa Claus and the Fée des étoiles (Star Fairy) as the stars of the show.
The parade starts at 11 am on Boulevard René-Lévesque at Rue Drummond and travels east to Rue Saint-Urbain. It runs rain or snow, so dress the whole family warmly. The grandstands are not open to the public and there is no giant screen, so plan to watch from the sidewalk along the route. Highlights air later on TVA on November 28.
Parent tip: Organizers suggest arriving by 9:30 or 10 am to get a good spot along the route. There is no dedicated reduced mobility area, though the boulevard itself is accessible.

Santa Claus, the Fée des étoiles (Star Fairy) and a DJ host this holiday party for families at Centre Gadbois in the Côte-Saint-Paul area. The afternoon mixes shows with a musical storytelling performance, so it suits kids who enjoy a story as much as those who want to move.
There is also free public skating with free skate loans, crafts, inflatable play structures and other surprises from 12:30 to 4:30 pm. It is organized by the team behind Montreal's Christmas markets as part of their 2026 program. The event appears in the 2026 program of Montreal's Christmas markets, alongside the Village de Noël at Atwater Market.
Parent tip: Skates can be borrowed for free, so you do not need to bring your own. Dress kids in layers for moving between the rink and the activity areas.

This hour at the Bibliothèque Saul-Bellow is built for kids 7 and up who like their Christmas stories a little unusual. It opens with a screening of the 1963 short film Hold-up au Far West by Jeff Hale, then moves on to readings of non-traditional Santa Claus stories.
A creative activity follows the stories. The program is free, presented in partnership, and runs Saturday from 11 am to noon. Registration opens November 15 through the library's ticketing. The Bibliothèque Saul-Bellow is on Rue Saint-Antoine in Lachine, and the same branch hosts a full day Christmas party the Saturday before.
Parent tip: Registration opens November 15. A good pick for school-age children who have outgrown toddler story times.
