The story of Christmas in Escondido
How Escondido celebrates
The Escondido Jaycees run the city's Christmas Parade, and the 2023 parade was its 71st annual edition. It follows a theme each year (2023 was Jurassic Christmas, with plenty of dinosaurs) and brings marching bands, the Mayor and City Council, Boy Scouts, dance groups and horses. After the parade, families head to Grape Day Park for a holiday festival with entertainment, vendors and visits with Santa. The park also hosts a Multicultural Holiday Festival that shows how other traditions mark the season, and nearby Maple Street has welcomed a Christmas on Maple vendor event.
